Frances Gillison, a Savannah, GA native, holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Savannah State University. With over seven years of involvement in the Domestic Violence Movement and Community Advocacy, she is a dedicated individual committed to serving the community.

Ms. Gillison began her journey as an intern at SAFE Shelter and later volunteered with Greenbrier. She then worked as a Prevention Specialist at Mary’s Place and later served as a Community Outreach Coordinator for SAFE Shelter. Frances has a proven track record of connecting with community members, collaborating with service providers, implementing outreach plans, and developing compelling presentations for community groups. Her daughter Braelynn is her driving force.

Ms. Gillison values learning and believes that each day presents an opportunity to acquire new skills. She is passionate about leveraging these skills to provide resources and tools to help members of the community. Her determination and hard work have earned her the distinction of a 2021 Step Up Savannah Neighborhood Leadership Graduate, a former Associate of the 9to5 Georgia Community Justice Fellowship Program, a member of Toastmasters International, and a current member of Parent University.

One of Ms. Gillison’s favorite quotes, by Maya Angelou, reads “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Her unwavering commitment to serving others and uplifting her community is evident in her work. Despite the many challenges that individuals often face, Frances remains steadfast in her mission to serve others and bring about lasting change.
