ATLANTA — As a leader in the fight for women’s economic equity in the U.S. for nearly 50 years, 9to5, National Association of Working Women is furthering its commitment to building a movement of directly affected women — in particular BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) — and other marginalized workers to achieve economic justice as part of a new initiative to close the pay gap.

9to5 is partnering with UKG, a leading global provider of human resources, payroll and workforce management technology, to promote pay equity. 9to5 will play a key role in supporting UKG’s Close the Gap Initiative — a multimillion-dollar pay equity initiative to drive awareness and action among UKG employees and networks to resolve pay disparity between men, women and underrepresented groups that continues to significantly impact today’s workforce.

“The wage gap still persists in every industry, at every level of employment, regardless of education level or experience, with Indigenous, Black and Latinx women and LGBTQIA+ people  experiencing even higher disparities than white women. With a diverse workforce who cares about making an impact, UKG is well positioned to work with 9to5 to take action as we tackle the wage gap,” said Leng Leng Chancey. ”Advancing pay equity is one of 9to5’s primary goals. 9to5 is excited to partner with UKG to collectively move the dial forward on equal pay,”

“Through the UKG Close the Gap Initiative, we seek to enact change related to pay inequity and encourage others to commit to more inclusive, fair, and unbiased workplaces,” said Brian Reaves, chief belonging, diversity and equity officer at UKG. “It’s become essential to turn words into impact. Given their focus and advocacy for critical policy changes to create equity and equality, we know 9to5 will continue to play a key role in this effort and we are thrilled to join them in this fight.”

In partnership with UKG, 9to5 will lift up the problem of pay equity, the structures and systems that perpetuate the wage gap, the solutions that will make a difference and how UKG employees and the UKG community can get informed, take action and make a difference.

“We need policies that address both pay discrimination and the underlying factors that contribute to economic insecurity, including systemic inequities, barriers and oppression experienced along race, class and gender lines,” said Chancey. “UKG is a corporate leader in taking concrete steps and actions to eliminate the pay gap and we are thrilled to be partnering with them in support of these efforts.”
