ATLANTA — 9to5, National Association of Working Women, Georgia Chapter, announced the winners of the 2021 “Ninth Annual Women’s History Celebration,” “I’m Every Woman” award. After receiving nominations from across the state, six honorees were selected for their sacrifices to protect and promote women’s and human rights, including workers’ and voters’ rights.
The honorees are Jennifer Chow, program manager for civic engagement at GALEO, Henry County Assistant District Attorney Elicia Hargrove, Step Up Savannah Executive Director Alicia Johnson, Georgia Muslim Voter Project’s Executive Director Shafina Khabani, artist and educator LaTasha Price and Rep. Kim Schofield, a member of the Georgia Assembly. Their biographies are available here.
“These women have made great contributions to their communities during an unprecedented time,” said Mica Whitfield, Georgia state director of 9to5. “We are honored to highlight their achievements and commitment to not only their families, but the community at large. We cannot wait to celebrate them, their families and their impact on our communities this Saturday.”
The awards will be presented on May Day, May 1, 2021, from noon to 1:30 p.m., during 9to5’s Ninth Annual Women’s History Celebration, “I’m Every Woman”, via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public.
The keynote speaker will be Tameika Atkins, the executive director of ProGeorgia and a member of the State Voices National Network of Tables. The event will feature honorable emcee, Mia Mance, founder of Mia Talks Media & Marketing, a live mocktail demonstration by True MixMasters Mixologist and musical performances.
