We are happy to share that Judith Marquez, Co-Director of 9to5 Colorado has been named to sit on the FAMLI Task Force. The task force was commissioned by the passage of SB 19-188, the FAMLI Implementation Act. Judith, along with 15 other appointees (13 voting, 2 nonvoting) will oversee several analysis over the upcoming months and make recommendations for a paid family and medical leave program for Colorado in 2020.

While we are committed to working with the taskforce to find a policy that will best fit Colorado, we are disappointed that worker representation has been cut into in order to give space for corporate interests. The FAMLI act was the most lobbied bill during the 2019 session and we risk prioritizing business and their bottom line over what would enact the most good for our communities.

We are proud to be advocating for the creation of a paid family and medical leave program that is affordable, accessible, and gives adequate time to meet the needs of workers. We look forward to working with advocates from worker rights organizations, organized labor, health advocacy, small business owners, and our other peer task force members to keep centered the needs of people and their families over corporate profit.
