Gabriela Alvarado

Gabriela Alvarado serves as the Director of Communications at 9to5. She joined the organization in January, 2025. 

Gabriela leads the organization’s strategic communications, branding, and outreach efforts, ensuring the organization amplifies the issues that matter most to the communities it serves while elevating their voices and stories to drive meaningful change. 

With over a decade of experience across the private, nonprofit, and government sectors, Gabriela specializes in storytelling, media strategy, brand development, and digital engagement. She’s passionate about building strong connections through compelling narratives and strategic campaigns. Guided by a deep commitment to empathy, integrity, and collaboration, she fosters a culture of openness and creativity, building teams that feel inspired, supported, and excited to do impactful work. 

Gabriela holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Cal State San Marcos and a Master of Arts in Strategic Communications from American University. Born and raised in Southern California as the daughter of immigrant parents, she is passionate about creating a more just and equitable future for all.
