Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) is Colorado’s first paid leave social insurance program that launched on January 1st, 2024. Through FAMLI, CO workers will have access to up to 12 weeks of job-protected paid leave to care for themselves and their loved ones because of a serious health condition, a new child, pregnancy complications, needs related to a family member’s active duty service or cases of domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault or abuse. Additionally, those with a serious health condition related to pregnancy or childbirth complications will be able to access an additional four weeks of paid leave. Workers can submit a claim for these benefits through the FAMLI portal.
