For over five decades, 9to5 has been advancing economic justice for women, grounding our work through a racial and gender justice lens. As a grassroots, membership-based organization, our members have prioritized the issues we work on every day: low-wage jobs, the erosion of a social safety net, the lack of paid sick time and paid family leave, unemployment, and workplace discrimination. Our programs include grassroots organizing, leadership development, and training, nonpartisan civic engagement, and policy change campaigns. We are most active in Colorado, Georgia, and Wisconsin, but also have a national impact.

Position Overview:
9to5 Georgia seeks a highly motivated and experienced Policy and Advocacy Manager to lead our organization’s efforts to promote economic justice for women and working families in Georgia. The Policy and Advocacy Manager will be responsible for developing and executing policy campaigns, building coalitions, and engaging in grassroots organizing and advocacy to advance our mission.
This position demands an experienced professional with strategic thinking, strong initiative, high attention to details, impeccable communication skills, excellent ability to multitask, and dedication to organizing for policy change.

Key Responsibilities:
   Legislative Advocacy: (45%):
○ Develop and lead policy campaigns on issues related to economic justice, including but not limited to paid leave, equal pay, and access to healthcare.
○ Develop and implement actionable and impactful advocacy agenda for each legislative session in collaboration with the State Director, stakeholders, and members
○ Convene organizational partners around 9to5 Georgia’s legislative priorities and create structure to support shared interests
○ Facilitate 9to5 GA policy-level coalitions to carry out strategy on key legislation with organizational allies/partners
○ Track bills and keep colleagues, partners and members up to date
○ Collaborate with organizers, partners, members, and other stakeholders to advance 9to5’s legislative priorities
○ Create opportunities and calls to action for members and allies to engage with 9to5 Georgia’s legislative priorities
○ Organize 9to5 GA’s annual Lobby Day
○ Support and implement legislative campaigns based on 9to5GA’s priorities in partnership with the State Director, 9to5’s lobbyist, organizers and organizational partners
○ Work with the comms team to create messaging materials for legislators and community education including one-pagers and toolkits
○ Represent 9to5 GA by attending partner coalition meetings and implement collaborative goals with national organizational partners such as NWLC and FV@W, when necessary.
○ Help to arrange conferences and meetings between government officials and 9to5 GA

Policy Analysis: (30%)
○ Collaborate with organizers to align policy campaigns with statewide organizing priorities
○ Monitor and analyze relevant legislation and policy developments at the state and local level.
○ Research, review, organize and/or compile legislative and policy
recommendations that align with 9to5 GA’s core issues for working women. This includes but is not limited to:
● Monitor and analyze legislative initiatives and provide updates to State Director and GA staff
● Using the strategic plan, and all available data, to identify specific legislative issues for research and analysis
● Organize and maintain the Issues Library
● Prepare one-pagers or policy briefs
● Educating colleagues and coalition members
○ Use data and analysis to provide technical direction and guidance to staff and coalition members
○ Supervise research projects related to key policy issues
○ Supervise policy fellows, interns and/or graduate research assistants.

Fundraising: (15%):
○ Provide input for State Director on proposal development and grant reports for training and policy related funding
○ Support End of Year campaign and other organizational wide fundraising events 4. Member and Leader Policy Development: (10%):
○ Assist and collaborate with organizers to develop their leadership through aligned policy learning opportunities

Preferred Skills:
● Deeply understands the GA legislative process
● Ability to research a broad range of legislative topics
● Strong planning, organizational and presentation skills
● Research and data collection to support policy goals
● Demonstrated ability to build and maintain diverse coalitions.
● Supervision experience (This role may supervise others in the future)

Details:
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week), offering a salary package of $71,460.96 with generous family health insurance, employer retirement contribution, life insurance and paid time
off benefits including sick time, vacation time, personal time and 10 paid holidays annually. This position is a bargaining unit position in the 9to5 staff union.
