About 9to5: Founded in 1973, we fight for economic justice through the lens of gender, race and class. We achieve our mission through grassroots organizing, leadership development, policy advocacy at a state and national level, and civic engagement. Current campaigns focus on paid family and medical leave ballot implementation, anti-discrimination, initiatives toward housing justice including statewide rent control, worker’s rights, and federal and state climate justice work centering on Green New Deal and THRIVE act initiatives.

Position Summary: Working directly with the Colorado state director and national data staff, the Data Coordinator will coordinate data processes to help 9to5 Colorado fulfill its mission and grow its visibility. 

They will help lead the implementation of the 9to5 Colorado’s chapter’s data strategy and serve as the chapter’s data point person, providing direction, training, and structure for staff to build an organizational awareness and culture around and data. The position will be based in 9to5’s Denver, Colorado office. This position will be a mix between remote and in-person working hours. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities Include: 

Data Management and Coordination 

● Act as lead for the chapter in database coordination and chapter support by responding to questions from the team, collaborating with organizers to identify emerging database needs, and communicating relevant information from the Data Team back to the chapter 

● Import data from outside electronic sources into the organizational database (CiviCRM); facilitate entry of bulk data from key chapter activities 

● Create data collection infrastructure and design organizers’ data workflows for different projects (i.e. ballot issue canvassing, survey collection, legal intake form)

● Complete other advanced data activities for the chapter, such as complex searches, exports, supporting events in the CRM, and managing the phonebank tool within the CRM

● Provide reports and visualizations for the chapter’s use in evaluation and decision-making 

● Coordinate with partner organizations such as state tables for data sharing and alignment and to promote the chapter’s internal data needs and goals

● Give feedback to the Data Manager on what documentation is needed and how existing documentation can be improved 

● Participate in internal Database Team: attend meetings, communicate chapter needs and questions to the database team and participate in database team discussion, information gathering, and decision making about how to meet chapter needs 

● Coordinate data strategy planning and implementation related to campaigns and organizing goals 

● Implement and support other staff in implementing data culture throughout organizing efforts 

Supervision and Training : 

● Onboard new chapter staff at all levels with data trainings 

● Answer questions, troubleshoot problems, and provide trainings/refreshers on data tasks for chapter staff as needed 

● Help develop and improve 9to5’s data-related documentation and onboarding materials 

● Support periodic 9to5 member coordination needs (events, etc) 

● With other related duties as assigned. 


● Preferred background working in social justice and grassroots organizations;

● A minimum of 2 years of data management experience, project management and /or information technology; 

● Familiarity with constituent relationship management (CRM) systems and a desire to develop database skills and experience; experience with CiviCRM or PowerBase a plus 

● Familiarity with voter file databases; experience managing VAN a plus

● Strong spreadsheet skills, including comfort with basic formulas and data transformation features such as text to columns 

● Preferred experience with Action Network, Hustle or Outreach Circle, Peer to Peer texting 

● Preferred experience designing data-related and/or organizing-related workflows for a team using a change management framework 

● Excellent oral and written communications skills, with a demonstrable ability to communicate complex ideas in succinct and clear ways to a variety of internal and external stakeholders; 

● Excellent organizational and strategic planning skills;

● Attention to detail; 

● Ability to manage deadlines, work collaboratively, supervise interns/volunteers and achieve outcomes in a team-driven work culture; 

● Knowledge of and experience using graphic design software a plus;

● Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression and ability to work with diverse populations; 

● Must be able to flex work hours at times, as needed, for special events

● Preferred bilingual in English and Spanish 

Details: The position will be filled as soon as practicable and when we find the right candidate, with a target goal of August 15th, 2022. 

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week), offering a salary package of $53,000 with generous health and paid time off benefits. 9to5 is an affirmative action employer.
