I've just completed my first year working with 9to5, and I'm so grateful for the community I've found. 9to5 is comprised of some amazing, badass women, both staff and members, who are making serious headway towards ensuring that all people have the supports we need to balance working with dignity and caring for our families so that we can thrive.
I'm proud of the work I've done this year. Just last week I facilitated a Know Your Rights training for a group of recent refugees and asylees to ensure they know the laws available to protect them at work and so that they know what to do in case they are discriminated against or taken advantage of at work. The training was translated simultaneously into 5 different languages!
I've had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people doing trainings like this one, and it feels good to be equipping people, mostly low wage earning workers, with the knowledge they need to act on their rights and to fight for better working conditions.
This Year End Campaign is important. It will allow us to use the funds we raise how we most need them, not how a funder determines. 9to5 is almost 50 years old, but we're in a new era as we're being led by women of color for the first time, and there are major and exciting changes underway. Please support this important work and these powerful women by giving what you can.
