As most of you know I have spent the past three and a half years working as an organizer with 9to5. 9to5 is a national grassroots membership organization working to win change for working women, especially women of color and women working in low-wage and non-unionized jobs on a local, state, and national level.
9to5 has been working on these issues since 1973 and has been instrumental in winning national policies that better the lives of working women and working families including the 1978 Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Family Medical Leave Act, and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.
9to5 is currently fighting for paid family leave in Wisconsin as well as paid sick days, equal pay, affordable childcare and housing, flexible and family-supporting jobs with livable wages, and a strong safety net across the country. We also work hard to turn out voters in local, state, and national elections, and in 2020 we will also be working on making sure everyone gets counted in the census.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be working with and learning from such a powerful group of activists and organizers, and with both workers' and women's rights facing threats at every level of government I believe that this work is more important now than ever. Please give today and help me reach my goal of $300!
