Big news! The momentum’s building for paid family and medical leave for New York State. The bill has already passed through the Assembly and will soon be up for a vote in the State Senate.
Right now it is crucial for the NY Senate to hear a groundswell of support for this important legislation.
The New York Paid Family Leave Insurance Act will provide workers in New York State with up to 12 weeks of paid leave a year to bond with a new child or care for a family member with a serious health condition.
9to5 Action Network leader Cathy Bernardone from Long Island shares:
“As a mother of twins, I know firsthand how crucial it is to have family flexible policies like the Paid Family Leave Insurance Act. The lack of concern, support and understanding at my job when my young children needed me at home was pure insanity. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to have paid leave when my twins were born. Too many mothers do not have this crucial support. That’s why we need this bill, to protect our kids.”
New Yorkers should be able to care for their kids and families without losing a much-needed paycheck.
