Hi Friend,

As we move towards the end of summer I continue to be astounded by our community and what happens when working women and families come together to get things done. From hosting public forums on how to make child care more affordable to helping renters find legal assistance when facing eviction, 9to5 has been hard at work.

This month, the Paid Leave for All crew took a cross country bus tour in support of passing a federal paid leave policy, stopping in key cities across the US. 9to5 Board member Kris Garcia spoke during a stop in Denver, Colorado and joined policy makers and advocates to demand that everyone – no matter where you live, what kind of care you need, or where you work – has access to affordable time to care.

As Congress heads back to session and midterm elections approach, we have multiple opportunities to make sure our elected officials work for the people who put them there. We will continue to organize & advocate for policies that make having a family affordable and accessible and ensuring that people don’t have to choose between keeping the lights on and paying for their healthcare.  Keep an eye out in the coming months for news about redistricting, paid leave, and housing justice work at the state and federal level.

In solidarity,

Leng Leng

Colorado

9to5 Colorado joined other grassroots partners to demand that Senator Hickenlooper champion climate action, green jobs, & care infrastructure during Congress’ budget reconciliation process. This took place just days after Denver was ranked with the worst air quality in the world.
