Hi friend,
The last couple of months our members have shared their stories to the Joint Finance Committee and demanded an investment in child care in the 2025-27 state budget. We gathered online with members to debrief the Wisconsin Spring Election and what the outcomes mean for our state. And we celebrated our communities during AAPI Heritage Month, Juneteenth, and Pride Month, because we know that to achieve economic justice we must center those who have been and continue to be harmed most by oppression—women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ people.
|
From organizing with members to building new leaders in our 2025 Community Justice Fellowship Program, we’re fired up and ready to take action. We refuse to be silenced and while attacks on our rights persist, 9to5 stands with the community—the hard-working neighbors, parents, friends, and allies—who are at the center of the fight against authoritarianism in this country.

Our next membership meeting is June 26th at 6:30 pm. Join us to debrief the state budget process and look ahead at what’s next. The meeting will be virtual via Zoom. Please RSVP for the meeting link.

2025-27 State Budget Process
|
Joint Finance Committee State Budget Public Hearings
|
Ahead of the budget, 9to5 staff, members, partners, and nearly 1,000 Wisconsinites showed up at the Joint Finance Committee’s state budget public hearings and spoke out in overwhelming support of funding for policies and programs such as paid leave and child care.
|
Despite this, Republicans still chose to cut 612 provisions from the proposed budget even though our state has a budget surplus of $4.3 billion. Working families will have to suffer the unnecessary and unjustified consequences of a lack of investment.

Fighting For Child Care Investment
|
We won’t give up on the fight for child care. Wisconsin’s child care crisis will get worse if state investment is not made.
Contact your legislators TODAY and demand they support the $480 million state investment in child care. Ask them: “What is your plan to ensure working families and providers aren’t left behind when federal dollars run out?”

Gearing Up For Paid Leave

Help us win the fight for a paid leave policy that supports all working Wisconsinites.
