Each election season, 9to5 Wisconsin is committed to empowering people to use their voice by voting. Our canvassers are the heart of this work – from door knocking to phone calling, they engage with marginalized communities, especially communities of color, to register to vote, participate in elections, and identify the issues that voters care about.
We are honored to shout out this spring 2025 election season’s canvassers, Mai and Harriette. Get to know them below!
Meet Mai!
Hello! My name is Mai. I am a student pursuing my degree in radiology who likes to connect with others.
What brings you joy?
The things that bring me the most joy in life is being able to spend time with my family and loved ones. I enjoy listening to music and learning new things.
What does being a 9to5 canvasser mean to you?
A 9to5 canvasser, to me, means that I can work on my own time and connect with individuals from different locations. It means that I am able of making a positive impact and helping my community advocate for themselves.
What does democracy mean to you and why does democracy matter?
Democracy, to me, means that I have the right to vote and make sure that my voice is heard. It means that I have the power to make decisions about how the country I live in is run and I have the opportunity to make a choice.

I am a Woman. I am a Wife. I am a Mother. I’m a God fearing child of the One true God.
What brings you joy?
My life does bring me the ultimate joy. I have a purpose and I’m ready to fulfill my purpose with determination, admiration with a Passionate Soul.
What does being a 9to5 canvasser mean to you?
I’m reaching out to all women to better this universe. By helping getting out the word about the troubles of this government. I’m finding out each individuals aspirations that I’ve come into contact with, no matter the season.
What does democracy mean to you and why does democracy matter?
Women have Rights – Human Rights. No one should dictate a woman’s Will for Human Dignity. Women should automatically be able to choose their own paths in their own lives. Period point blank. Women Matters.
