Wisconsin voters will go to the polls on April 1st for the state’s 2025 spring election. This election is critical for Wisconsinites to participate in as two key statewide races are occurring: State Superintendent of Public Instruction and an open seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
The candidates for State Superintendent are Incumbent State Superintendent Jill Underly and Sauk Prairie Schools Superintendent Jeff Wright. Dane County Circuit Court Judge Susan Crawford and Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Brad Schimel are running for our state’s supreme court election.
This state supreme court race is one of the most crucial decisions in this election. Whoever is elected will serve a ten-year term and will have final authority over key issues in our state, like reproductive rights and voting laws, and will determine whether our state supreme court will have a liberal or conservative majority. Elon Musk, representing the rich who benefit from staying in power and restricting our access to care, is well aware of this, and that’s exactly why he is pouring millions of dollars into his candidate. We are the only ones who can make sure our rights are protected by voting.
We need to stand strong and vote for our values or our rights will be at risk. We can protect ourselves and our communities’ rights and well-being by electing judges who know how important the right to decide when or if to have children, making sure voting is fair, and upholding our state laws.
To make an informed decision this election, take these steps:
- Get to know the candidates. Read more about them and vote for those who align with your values.
- Check your voter registration.
- Find your local polling location.
- Plan your vote. If you can’t make it to the polls on April 1st:
- Engage your community. Empower your friends and family by:
- Discussing what’s at stake around the dinner table.
- Sharing important election deadlines.
- Encouraging others to take action.
We can do this, but we need to do it together.
Additionally, there will be a statewide referendum question on the spring election ballot. This question will ask whether or not we should include photo ID requirements for voting as part of our state constitution. Voter ID laws create obstacles for people to vote, especially those in vulnerable communities. Voting is our right, and every voice deserves to be heard. This referendum will impact ballot access – know the facts and make your voice count.
We won’t stop working for a world and economy where working people and families thrive, and gender equality and racial justice are realized. Make a difference and voice your values with your vote. If you haven’t already, sign our pledge to vote in this spring election.
