A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of participating in a conversation with Rose Scott on “A Closer Look with Rose Scott” alongside Black Girls Vote’s Chief of Staff Natasha Murphy. We discussed the impact of Black women voters during the 2024 elections and which issues matter most to us. We discussed the ways that 9to5 engages voters alongside the issues we care about, and then how we work with legislators to create policy changes.
In case you missed it, you can listen to the podcast here on our website!
Zero Weeks Screening 🎥
Poder Latinx and Georgia Paid Leave Coalition are teaming up to host a powerful movie screening of the documentary “Zero Weeks”, a film that explores the challenges and stories surrounding paid family leave, sheds light on this critical aspect of our society, and educates the community on the importance of taking time off when needed.
After the screening, a few impacted community members will share more about how they would have benefited from a paid leave policy, and why we must continue to fight for expansion. We invite you all to join us in community to learn more about how we can benefit and fight for paid leave for all workers in Georgia. Link to RSVP for the event can be found here:
9to5 Georgia Canvasser Launch
I am proud to announce that we have launched our canvasser program! We are welcoming 29 canvassers to our team for the season. They will be out and about educating the community in Atlanta, Macon, Albany, and Savannah. If you see them out in the field, give them a hello and they’ll provide you with information about our campaigns and programming! We are thankful and blessed to have our canvassers working alongside us!
Job Opportunity from Cover Georgia
The Cover Georgia coalition works together to expand access to health care for all Georgians, especially for those who can least afford it.
Cover Georgia needs locals to help their communities understand Medicaid expansion, connect more organizations and individuals to the coalition, and educate elected officials about closing Georgia’s coverage gap!
Cover Georgia is looking for community members to serve as Coverage Captains in the following counties: Clarke; Dougherty (and neighboring counties); Effingham, Liberty, or Bryan; Hall; Houston; and Whitfield (or neighboring counties).
