The wonderful summer weather brings more time for us to be out with our community! Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of collaborating with our friends in the Georgia Coalition for Paid Leave (GCPL) when we tabled at the Small Businesses for Paid Leave event alongside Poder Latinx & Small Business Majority. Community members had the opportunity to engage with staff to learn more about 9to5 Georgia and played trivia for some prizes! We enjoyed our time together and enjoyed learning about how small businesses can incorporate paid leave for their employees. Attendees also enjoyed free tacos from Tacquero, a local restaurant. Thank you Poder Latinx for hosting the event!

Legislative Update: Paid Leave for Public Sector Workers (HB 1010) and Tenant Rights Bill (HB 404) in Effect
Two bills that 9to5 Georgia advocated for during this year’s Legislative Session will be in effect on July 1st: HB 1010, which will increase paid leave for public employees from three weeks to six weeks, and HB 404, which is Georgia’s first tenant rights bill! The Georgia Coalition for Paid Leave will be holding a Know-Your-Rights training for folks (especially teachers and government workers) who want to learn more about these new paid leave changes. Well Woman Wednesday 🌈
Yesterday, we held our 2nd monthly Well Woman Wednesday with our members. We explored the intersection between economic justice and the experiences of our LGBTQIA+ community. We had the privilege to hear from members that identify themselves as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community and had the opportunity to listen to their stories. Thank you to those who participated and attended last night! Mark your calendars for our next Well Woman Wednesday happening on July 31st, 2024
