1982

9to5 Wisconsin was founded in 1982 in Milwaukee and has long been dedicated to the rights and respect of working women and nonbinary working people of color in Wisconsin and across the country. In Wisconsin, 9to5 has led campaigns and coalitions to win more equitable policies for all working women and nonbinary people of color.

TODAY

Some of our historic and recent wins include:

1988: 9to5 Wisconsin leads successful campaign for state family medical leave law.

2008: 9to5 Wisconsin-led coalition passes a city Paid Sick Days ordinance supported by 70% of voters.

2016: 9to5 Wisconsin won the Ban the Box in the City of Milwaukee applications

2021: 9to5 Wisconsin supported and won the City of Appleton resolution to eliminate discrimination against all women 

2022: 9to5 Wisconsin won Paid Leave policies for the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County employees

2023: 9to5 Wisconsin successfully launched the first statewide Wisconsin Care Coalition

2023: 9to5 Wisconsin successfully wins local voter rights protection and expansion in Green Bay and Kenosha

2024: 9to5 Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Care Coalition introduce one of the most comprehensive paid leave state bills in the nation

Throughout Wisconsin, we’re fighting for paid leave, affordable childcare, fair and equitable representation in all state and local decision-making bodies, democracy protection, and voter rights and engagement.
