9to5 Georgia is proud to announce the passage of the Family Care Act (SB 201) with a 114 to 51 vote count in the House! The bill will now be sent to the Governor Deal for his signature.

We would like to thank Family Values at Work as well as the Georgia Job/Family Collaborative partners for all of their hard work and support over the past few years.

The Family Care Act will ensure that anyone who earns sick time at work is able to use that time to care for a family member, in addition to themselves. 9to5 Chapter Boardmember Kim Schofield has been part of the team fighting to pass the Family Care Act over the last several years. She says, “My daughter plays a significant role as my caregiver when I need help due to my lupus flare ups.” But sometimes her daughter’s hands are tied because she can not risk retaliation on her job – or the loss of a day’s pay.

No one should have to risk their job to help care for the people they love. Help us celebrate this hard-won victory by sharing our post on Facebook!
