Action Toolkit for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

MLK 2015January 18th is MLK Day, the day our country honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. 9to5 members carry on his struggle for racial and economic justice by taking the demands of their communities to the voting booth and to the streets.

Whether you’re a person of color, a working woman, LGBTQ, a single parent, or an immigrant, chances are you’ve felt underrepresented in politics. But as we move into the New American Majority, all of that is changing. Together we have the power to shift the American political climate and elect legislators who will prioritize the needs of working families.

You can join the effort! You’ll find everything you need here to get involved. Contact Lindsey at or 1-800-669-0769 for support, brainstorming, or with any questions you have about using this toolkit to make a difference in your community.

Tools for outreach:

  • Petition Card – This is a tool so people you talk to can pledge to be sure they are prepared to vote. You should get this card back, after someone has signed it, so we can follow up with them and provide materials to help them with their pledge.
  • Info Card – These are for you to distribute as you have conversation with people about why voting matters!
  • Contact Lindsey (info above) for printed copies and 9to5 stickers to wear
