9to5 Colorado has been paving the way for affordable transit in the Front Range.
After releasing our report, Left at the Station, in January of 2014 9to5 has brought statewide attention to cost of transit for low-income and transit dependent riders. The launch of our campaign coincided with RTD’s massive fare and pass evaluation process. RTD plans to recreate their fare and pass structures over the next two years, and 9to5 is committed to ensuring that our members and constituents have a voice in this process.
Members and allies have shared their stories at four different RTD Board Meetings. We’ve met with RTD Staff and Board members encouraging them to make community input a focal point of the fare evaluation.
On April 26, RTD celebrated the 1 year anniversary of the W Line light rail opening. 9to5 Colorado led a procession along 3.4 miles of the W Line’s route to bring attention to all of the communities that are not able to benefit from the light rail expansion due to the cost. This special action coincided with One Day in Denver–a film project seeking to answer key questions about the future of the City. Our video for the project can be found below.

We are seeing progress. At the May 27 RTD Board Meeting, 9to5 was able to commend RTD Staff for including community voice in their fare evaluation. RTD Board members also lifted up the issue of affordable transit.
